Dome and Door Ajar light not working

Hi, I recently purchased a second hand 2009 Vibe. I noticed that my dome light does not come on when a door is opened, neither does the door ajar warning light on the dashboard when the vehicle is on. I do have the dome switched to the door setting. Any idea's or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

did you look in the owners manual and check the fuses related to those functions

did you check if the bulb is burnt out?
other possibility is a bad switch but that would be doubtful if the problem is with all doors.

Hi, yes I have checked the fuses and the bulb works great as I can turn the switch to on and it lights up. So about an hour ago I had the rear left door open (no lights or door ajar warning) and was feeling between rear left seat and the side pillar. When I pushed the plastic pillar all of a sudden the dome light came on and the door ajar warning. I then closed the door and opened it again and it worked. I went around and all the doors now work apart from the drivers door. So am I correct in assuming there is a loose connection somewhere behind the pillar? I hope that makes sense.

are you sure there is no door switch on the pillar that you touched?
