low coolant light question

I am working on a customers car. He said the low coolant light has been stuck on for quite some time. I tested the wiring. Everything checked out okay. I jumped the two wires and the light comes on. Unplug it and the light goes out. I replaced the sensor and the light stays off. He believes there is still an issue because the light does not come on when the key is turned on. He told me the light is supposed to come on for 4-5 seconds when the key is turned on, along with the oil pressure and check engine light. Can anyone verify if this is true? thanks for your time.
Jeff

oldest manual I have is 99 and for other lights it mentions they come on briefly during start. It does not say that for the low coolant light.

I have a 2000 Grand Prix GT. My Low Coolant light DOES NOT illuminate when you start the car, will come on though while running.... still trying to bleed all the air out of the system after replacing thermostat lol.
