Engine Swap

Hey folks,
Im driving a 68 Tempest Custom with a 72 replacement
Pontiac 350cui and a Th350 transmission.

Now the engine has no compression on two cylinders, and
instead of disassembling it and figuring out what and where
the problem is, I would like to put a new engine in with more power.

Can somebody recommend an already assembled engine,
as it ships to Germany, I dont want to order 623 parts but
if possible a crate engine..

Next question, as I want to go with a 400/455 engine, Ill probably
need a better transmission than the TH350 right ? Can someone
recommend a tranny or am I good with a TH400

Those are the engine sources I would have recommended, along with these

http://www.cmengines.com/Engines/Dyn...0/Default.aspx

http://www.sandovalperformance.com/

http://www.dcimotorsports.com/produc...-crate-engine/

As for the Trans, if you put a shift kit in the transmission and don't put an engine with over 350 HP it should live just fine, unless you plan on using it for only racing and don't rev the engine in Neutral and slam it into gear.

And you can purchase a built TH-350 trans that will take the same loads as the heavier and larger TH-400 trans. I actually used to prefer a well built TH-350 over a TH-400 in most applications, besides being about 15 Kilo's lighter they rod you of about 10 less HP due to there lower internal friction.

thanks, I just sent those guys from cm engines an email.. well pull the engine next week and have a look inside and then well figure out wether its saveable and we just put in a stroker kit or get a new engine..

thanks for the TH350 advice, heart it now multipletimes, that its not worse than the TH400, in fact it has some advantages just as you listed
