Pontiac 2004 Grand Am GT keyless remote not working

I have 2 original keyless remotes which started not working right away to eventually not working at all this year. I replaced both batteries and they still do not work. I am not sure what else to try to get them to work.

did you test the new batteries?
if the batteriers are good it is doubtful both remotes failed so it could be the receiver in the car

It has to be done by a shop with a diagnostic scan tool
