Under hood color

Finally getting my 65 GTO painted. Does anyone know if the factory painted under the hood, body color, or just black?

gloss black would be correct for restoration purposes.

Thanks. That's what I thought. On another subject, does anyone know how to tell original bumpers from re pops. I found some numbers, but can't find any information to decode them. I don't want to rechrome after market bumpers.

Try contacting www.frankspontiacparts.com to see if they can answer the bumper question.

Ok, thanks melsg5. Ifound part #s in the chassis manual. But I don't know if they'd be stamped in the bumper.

Sorry it took so long. We just got back from vacation. To answer your question. I don't really don't know if either bumper is original. I was just trying to find out if there are any clues I could look for. And while I'm here. Does anyone know the correct color for the grill on the 65 GTO?
