09 G5 door lock question

My sons' girlfriend just bought a 2009 G5 and the lock cylinder doesn't engage the door lock, it can turn both clockwise and counter clockwise but the lock doesn't engage. You can lock and unlock it from the inside. I'm new to G5's so if anyone's had this issue maybe you can tell me if its perhaps just a clip on the lock cylinder to the locking rod or some such thing. I haven't pulled the door panel yet so I just wanted an idea of what it may be before I dove into it. Any help pointing me in the general direction is greatly appreciated.

You seem to be already aware of how these mechanisms work and as you know until you open the door panel it will just be a good guess. Let us know what you find, good luck.

I just thought perhaps someone had the exact same issue and wondered if the whole lock cylinder needed to be replaced or not.

Look for a broken or disconnected linkage.

Seems it must be missing a rod.

Nope, whomever owned it previous had done some work within the door and it seems at some point he lost or just forgot the cylinder lock rod. Ordered a new one.
