Hi all, I am restoring a 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix. I have stripped and sanded the entire body ready to re-spray.
When I got to the scuff plates in the door shuts, I found a small domed panel around 2-3" square. I chopped them off as I need to replace the scuff plates with some plastic chrome roll.
When I chopped the domes off I found a largish bolt with a point on it poking up through the rocker panel with a heavy metal plate let into the panel.
Does anyone have any idea what these are for???
As the floor in the rocker is rebated, I was able to grind the bolt and the plate down enough so the rocker can be filled level so it won't show when filled level.
Just interested to know what they are foor.
I am not replacing the aluminium moulding over the rocker as they are just not available for a car this age.
Answers please if you know what they are for.?
