1990 trans am gta wont start..

Hi, i am new here, just bought this car and drove it home run ok, parked it in my driveway then tryed to start it and it wouldnt,, then after a while it started and I parked it in my garage, now it wont start anymore any ideas, I think i bought a real gem lol lol not,, oh well hopefully you guys can help me to get it up and running again,,also the rear hatch wont open, is there any other way to open it? thanks in advance..HELP

by the way its a 5.0 liter or 305 engine..

Is the security light on? have you checked if you are getting spark at the plugs when you have this problem? have you mentioned it to the previous owner?

if I put gas in the ____ dont remember what its called,, starts then runs out,,,

i hear the pump come on, light is on till I let go off key,, I think thats normal,,but sometimes if it sits for a while it will start thne after a while wont start again...

it started again, but who knows for how long,,, could it be the fuel pump? or fuel filter?

Could be either one. First change the filter and then do a fuel pressure test. If it's low probably the pump.

Thanks will try that,, but I also get likw a white smoke comes out off tail pipes? not sure what that would be my oil level is good no water in oil like a head casket,, any ideas..

Check the fuel pressure. White smoke is antifreeze.
