1994 Firebird Formula LT1

I have a 1994 Firebird Formula LT1 automatic, it has a hard time shifting into 3rd and 4th gears. When I get to 35mph it revs really high before it shifts and then again into 40 to 45 mph. Like it is getting stuck. Does anyone know what might be causing this? It's really annoying that I have a fast car but I can't even get past 35, 40 mph.

Start by replacing the trani filter and fluid. Next would be a problem with the transmission shift solenoid. Do not continue driving the car like this or you will burn out the transmission assuming you havent already done that.

3-4 Clutches are going out. Fix it now or later. It will not get better.

Tranny Problems...

Do what the last posters said to do, but I would just check the tranny fluid level first. I was a Pontiac tech during the LT1/LS1 years, and alot of cars would come in with tranny/shifting problems. Most of the cars just needed a tranny fluid fill.
