I have a 2001 firebird that has the "service engine soon" light on. I bought an OBD II reader and it won't even power on. Starts right up on my Colorado though. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen. I've jiggled the darn thing and it seems to be fully connected.

Check the lighter fuse. It suplies power to the ALDL port.
WOW! I checked every fuse in the fuse-box on Saturday. Mostly focused on PCM and Engine labeled fuses. The Accessory/lighter fuse is missing, but I never thought that would be the culprit. Thanks, I'm sure it will work now.
