Hey Guys. My beautiful 63 Catalina convertible died on me tonight while driving. First time this has ever happened in 7yrs. Drove it all day today , with absolutely no problems. Then out of nowhere while stopped at red light. She died. I put in park turned off and it fired right up . As long as I kept gassing no issue. Once I took my foot off the gas. It died immediately. Brand new fuel pump and brand new battery. What could be causing this.
Thanks for all your help

When is the last time you did a complete tuneup including adjusting the carburetor?
Why was the pump changed, any chance when the pump was changed debris went into the carburetor?
Does the carburetor have an internal or external fuel filter?

It’s been about a year. Last April before the Orange Beach Car show was the last complete tune up including spark plugs.
Fuel pump was approximately 5yrs old and quit around October then I Replaced
The Holley Carburetor has an internal filter

I adjusted the Carb today. And seems to have improved and is now keeping an idle. I crossed the sparks and created a Back fire, which may have cleared out any debris causing. Ultimately long term I think it’s time to replace the Carb

Why not rebuild it?
