73 Bird starter/wiring issue

Ok, here is the issue I am having........My 73 bird which has been sitting in storage for the last 6 years has lost the ability to turn the started over. I towed this thing home a few months ago and intially the starter would turn over. Somewhere after a times of checking spark it would no longer turn over. Since this thing was sitting for so long i just decided to replace components. Here is what was replaced as I cannot still get the bird to turnover.


a. nuetral safety switch

b. engine wiring harness

c. battery cables

d. battery

e. starter was tested and works,

f. Ignition switch/along steering column

I think that is it. I could have sworn the engine harness would clear it up as it was a wreck and I was removing the ac anyway and going to just heat. I am getting nothing to the starter and not sure where else to go at this point. The fuses where also checked. Any sugestions and where to go from here. I am stuck....

have you checked when the key is turned to the start position if the starter solenoid is getting any current?

Yes, and the issue is somewhere prior to the engine harness. I am not sure where to check.. as the ignition switch has to hot leads to it. But I am not sure which wire corresponds to the fuse panel. The Chilton manual talks about a green and pink wire as far as I can tell. Both the hot wires are red. So I am unsure on where to take it from here....

it is somewhat of an investment but you should buy the factory manuals, they have much more detail than chiltons. I think you can get them from Helms Publishing.
