I have an '83 TA with 305 ci engine and have a heating problem.
I changed the water pump but it doesnt seam to flow to the radiator very
well. The radiator is clean, all else looks good I even removed the thirmastat
My question is does this TA have a backwards impeller in the colling system.

What do you mean by having a heating problem? Is the engine overheating or the heater for the passenger compartment doesnt work?

The engine is over heating and the water pump is not flowing well even with the thermastat removed. The car only has 30,000 miles on it.

Did you try reverse flushing the radiator?

you dont have your heater core by passed??? also is the engine over heating while sitting still or is it doing while you are going down the road??? do you have the original pullies on or a after maket chrome ones in this case size does matter...

i've had several 305 engine and had no more of a problem with them than any of the 327s or 350s... now the chevy 400 small block had issues... the third gen trans am have no grill. no way for the air to get through... the air flows past the radiator when going down the road and flows through while it sits still... it is like the opisite of most cars. there could also be allot of "stop leak" in the block reducing water flow...
