I had earlier posted asking about how long the steel brake lines last. I had decided to replace hoses, but not the lines. But I can't loosen a couple of fittings so I'm going to have to change the lines on the rear axle, too.
I think the "old" lines are the original, I'm the 2nd owner. On the driver side, the steel line runs from the center distribution block of the hose all the way to the caliper (4-wheel discs). On the passenger side, the line runs to a hose, and then the hose to the caliper.
I ordered pre-bent replacement SS lines from Inline in MI. The lines that I got both run from the center to the caliper. The passenger side does not go to a hose.
I made sure Inline knew it is an '83. The fittings are "inch", so they screw into the new hose block (they're not '84, when things changed to metric).
Did GM sometimes change things during a model year?
The car was built in Van Nuys, did they do things different at different ass'y plants?
Does Inline have bad info on '83's?
Does anyone else have an '83 TA with 4-wheel discs? How is the passenger side put together?
Thanks
