I got this 95 Gand Am from a friend for junk price because he is tired of messing with it. It is really nice no rust interior is almost cherry. 107,000 miles 4 banger under the hood.
He just had a head gasket put in a few months ago. It recently started running rough and dying. He changed fuel filter. His wife just had enough and said get rid of it.
I got it home and popped the hood. I immediately seen the vacuum lines on the front of the engine were cracked and leaking. There is a weird black box on top of the front of the engine all the hoses to that were cracked and leaking. The hoses on what I found out was the pvc heater were shot. They collapsed when I revved it up. You can not get a new pvc heater or the hose for it anymore so I got some that worked. Had to use a hose clamp but they worked.
Now she purrs like a kitten at idle. Drove it 12 miles got home she is running perfect. Later that day I jump in and it started hard. Give it gas and it acts like it going to die. I drove it around the farm got it to some out of it some. Parked it. Got in yesterday and it started hard but when I gave it gas we threw gravel and off we went!

I am seriously scratching my head here. Got to be something I am missing. No check engine light. But I think it has to be electronic.
I also got a 92 grand am parts car with it. The 92 sat for a few years with a leaking sun roof. IT has bad water damage and mold. I don't know it the electronics will even be any good anymore. Will the computer from the 92 work in the 95?

Check the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator for gasoline, if you see gas replace the regulator. The PCMs are not the same.

Did that no gas came out. DO you know where to check the fuel pressure?

the fuel rail, if no valve, you need an adaptor

There is no valve on the fuel rail. I talked to a guy that worked on these before. HE could not remember where it is but he said its some place wierd. Then he went on to say these were throw away cars and its not worth messing with. I have access to a lift at work Im going put it up and go over everything front to back.

a complete fuel pressure tester kit comes with adaptors, you disconnect the line at the rail temporarily install the adaptor which has a fitting on it for the gauge.
