Hello everyone.

I drive a 2006 Pontiac G6 GT. Recently when I drive I hear a whistling/Whine sound through the drivers side vents. No exhaust issues or cracks. Fluids are all fine, but I’m pretty sure it may be the serpentine belt. I am not sure if it actually looks frayed or not so I took some photos. What do you all think? If I drive at high high speeds, it sometimes sounds like a chipmunk is spinning believe it or not!

Any idea how many miles on the belt?
If over 100k, change it.
If you see small cracks change it.

Maybe not 100K yet but getting there ya. So I’ll definitely change it. The sides look very warm as you can see in the photo. Also, when I start the car it does a weird deep hum off and on near where the engine is. So I’ll change the belt and see if that fixes that issue also.

Thanks a ton

Do you hear the noise in Park as you raise the engine speed?
If I rev the engine, after it revs down I hear a weird sound like whining when it revs back down sometimes under the car. Hard to explai nthe sound but like a higher pitch ssssssssssssssssssssh than it stops.

Get someone to rev the engine for you while you try to locate the source of the noise. If necessary use a short length of rubber hose as a stethoscope to pinpoint it.

It is hard in park as that noise from video only happens when driving

Then take it to a shop and have them run the car on a lift.
Ok i am going to yes. Also, stupid question. So again it is a 2006 Pontiac G6 GT. No tranny fluid dipstick. I know that you have to raise the car and loosen the plug to see if you have no fluid or have excess etc., I looked in the reservoir today, and it is bone dry. I see like a spring or something inside of it. Is that any indication of low tranny fluid? I attached a photo IMG_3550.jpg

This year has no dip stick unfortunately. I’m just trying to see if I am supposed to be seeing liquid in the fill window or not. If I am, we’ll I found my issue lol. I can’t afford mechanic yet, so trying to see if looking in there is a sing at all if it’s low

I believe it is low but car needs to be up in air, level, and plug removed with engine running to check level

Cannt tell from picture if it is just disconnected or broken off.
No not broken. I just pushed it back. Is this how it’s supposed to go? Or does the rubber lip go on other side? Not sure how it’s holding 244778BF-3F84-4B4A-BCF1-1B4E8D7F37E6.jpeg

I think that's the way it fits but something might be missing on other side to hold it in place. You would need to find a Hanes or Chilton manual.
