I have a 1969 Firebird that originally had A/C. It was long gone by the time I purchased the car. The car however still has the A/C heater core cover. Does anyone know where I can find the blower resistor on this cover? The Chilton manual I have only shows the cover for a non A/C car and the resistor is definately not on my cover in that place. The wiring harness was also cut and I have five wires coming out of the heater control harness but the replacement resistor I bought only has a plug with three prongs. Does anybody know if A/C would have used the extra wires? Can anybody tell me what color the wires are that I should be sending to the resistor and then out to the blower motor? I also have a wiring diagram for the car and the wire colors do not always match what the diagram says. Thanks for any help, thoughts, ideas you can provide.

I have a copy of the Ames Firebird catalog and it looks like the 69 with A/C has either four or five prongs. Any chance you got the wrong one? You can download the catalog from www.amesperf.com The resistor is on page 112. Typically the resistor would be in the engine compartment near the top of the cover.

Since I no longer have A/C I think the resistor I have is correct with only three prongs but I am still having trouble locating where it belongs. There is no place on the blower motor cover in the engine compartment that I can see an opening to place it and since the heater core cover is for an A/C car, is it possible that neither place may have one? I know the former owner made the car with a mix of various parts. I am just wondering if maybe the blower cover was from a non A/C car and the interior heater core cover is from an A/C car and I no longer have a place for the resistor??? I think I might need to buy a heater core cover from a non A/C car so that i know where to place the resistor since that is the only remaining peice of A/C on the car currently. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks

It would not be on the blower motor cover, it typically would be on the cover in the engine compartment that houses the evaporator core. You should try and get a copy of the original factory shop manual for the car. Will solve lots of your headaches.
