If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Hello everyone new to this site but not to car forums =). Here is my current predicament...

My g/f owns a 1970 Lemans Sport (at least i think its a sport) that has been sitting in her driveway for about the last 10-14 yrs. From what she told me the car just wouldn't start anymore and they couldn't figure out the problem. Well this year i finally got her motivated to start Dismantling it because it is going to take a complete body off restoration. I decided to start under the hood (with what i am assuming was the stock 350 that came with the car) to see if i could diagnose why it eventually ended up what quite possibly would be its final resting place :(. After removing the carb, intake, intake pan, and distributor i finally noticed that the engine ground was severed and this was most likely the reason that they couldn't find lol. Anyways to the question(s). How hard/costly is this car going to be to restore to at least drivable, she brought her children home from the hospital in this car and i would really like to do this for her instead of her having to sell/junk the car. She was hoping to give it to her daughter on her 16th bday but well.....that was this past december heh. Basically what im wanting to know is what are my options as far as affordability is concerned and doing the job right?

Another thing i would like to know is what models gm made that are interchangable if i cant find stock lemans parts. is the GTO a viable option? Sry this will be my first classic/muscle car rebuild. everything i've ever worked on has been 1996 and newer lol.

You have set two different goals for yourself, a body off restoration is not the same as making the car driveable. Put all the parts you took off back onto the engine, change all the fluids and start the car. Many parts are interchangeable between the LeMans and GTO. Here is a couple of good parts sources if you cannt find stuff locally.

thank you for the resources. Unfortunately I know there is going to be extensive bodywork due to the car being uncovered for as long as it was. once i can get the car into the air, since it sunk into the ground i can take a look at the frame and see just how extensive the damage is. thank you again for your resources :). i'll post in the lemans forum if i have any other questions :)
