Son has a 04 grand am. I replaced the key lock cylinder when he bought it about 6 months ago. It was working fine until a few days ago when the ignition key stopped turning completely. The steering wheel isnt locked. Ive been told since the cylinder I put in was an after market bought from autozone instead of a GM one, its possible it went bad again. If thats the case ok..wasnt too hard to change the first time. However this time i cant even turn the key to the on position so i can release the cylinder. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

You did try turning the steering wheel both ways while attempting to turn the key?
You tried lubricating the key slot with WD40?
You tried tapping on the end of the key, with not too much force?
Do you have an additional key to try?
Beyond this the only way to resolve the problem is by destroying the existing cylinder to remove it.
