I bought a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and it had the steering rack broken off. The passenger side mount on the subframe it's self was fine but it had broke off the rack. I think someone drove it after it broke and the other side broke off of the subframe. Anyways removing the rack was a pain, I dropped the subframe about a foot and I was able to slide it out of the wheel well with the mounts having had been broken I just had to rotate it to avoid some things. To fix the driver's side I looked and the trans mount bolts to the subframe behind the racks mounting holes so I figured why not make a bracket that piggy backs off of the hole there and here was my results. The second picture it's not bolted in yet, I still had to button some stuff up.
