trys to start but wont.

I have a 90 firebird with a 3.1. It wont start. if I spray started fluid in it sometimes it will start for like 2 sec. Then die. I can hear the fuel pump going. I even opened the gas line and the turned on the pump and gas comes out. Maybe the injectors? Or maybe they is a hole in the line somewhere. Causing it not to build pressure. Or could it be a sensor? Thanks.

Check the fuel pressure with a gauge. How many miles since you changed the fuel filter? Have you pulled a plug wire and grounded it with a screwdriver to make sure you have spark?

Im gonna rent one from auto zone tomorrow. And shouldn't be the fuel fliter. Cause if I open the gas lines to the carb gas comes out. No I havnt done the spark plug test. Ill do that when I get off work. Could it be the control mod?

I am puzzled by your comment about "open the gas line to the carb", doesnt the 1990 3.1 have fuel injection?
