Man the past few weeks have been rough vehicle wise. Just after I had all the previous work done to my Aztek, in a money grabbing scheme, the Maryland General Assembly changed the definition of a historic vehicle. Previously in Maryland, any vehicle over the age of 20 years old qualified to be a historic vehicle as long as it was in good condition, with no significant modifications, and can not be used for daily transportation. The new rule they passed changed the cut off date to any vehicle with the model year of 1999 or older. Vehicles made in 2000 and newer are no longer eligible and will never be unless they change the law again. I just had to send my car back out to get a Maryland Safety Inspection completed since when I first bought the car, I put historic tags on it right away. Which exempts the vehicle from needing a safety inspection and emissions testing. They failed me for my brake lines, so I had to get them replaced, which to be honest, I was expecting. When I first bought the car in 2021, my mechanic did a good look over and mentioned that there was surface rust on the lines, but nothing unsafe. But, if I got a MSI it would fail for it. That was a pretty penny, but surprisingly enough, a company still makes a brake line kit for the Aztek!! So I have new brake lines now and will be going in to MVA and/or a tag and title shop some point this week to switch the tags. I am going to get a vanity tag though. I'm planning on having it read "AZTK4LF."
