Hi! I’m new to this website and this type of thing in general so bear with me. I own a 1993 Firebird, V6. I’ve been having issues with a high idle speed that my mechanic has tried to fix which appeared to be fine for a while, but after getting a coolant change today it started to jump back up above 1000rpm when I shift into park. I’ll check again tomorrow and see if it’s still happening, but I was curious if anyone has had similar issues? The car has pretty low mileage, and relatively little work done, but I’m planning to add a lot more modifications so I’d like to fix all the little things first. If this has happened to you, did you figure out the problem? And what did you do to fix it? (Also just as a closing note: I’m barely starting to learn more about cars and working on them so patience is appreciated!)

Have you checked the computer for codes?
Have you checked with the shop if they accidentally disconnected a vacuum line?

I’m pretty sure they spent about a day and a half checking the computer and trying to reset it in case it was just a computer issue. I’ll ask them to check for the vacuum line though when I go in next week. Thank you!

I was under the impression you were trying to fix it.
You may need to find a new shop.
Does this shop have ASE certified techs?
