'00 Sunfire GT rear defroster doesn't work

In my '00 Pontiac Sunfire GT 2.4L the rear defroster doesn't clear the rear window like it's supposed to. If you hit the defroster button the orange light will come on but the rear window will be unchanged. I checked the fuse and it's unbroken and perfect. Help?

Check if your getting current to the wires leading to the grid on the back window.

Unplug the leads form the grid and use a meter. There will or will not be 12 volts at the plug. It there is 12 volts present, the grid is probably bad. No voltage means a wiring issue.
