I had my tranny fluid exchanged around 103,000 and I am running around 120,000 now. I had this changed during the summer and this winter is way colder then last winter and this is my second year of owning the car. I noticed during cold weather it seems like my car isn't shifting into overdrive until the car has warmed up on the interstate. normally it takes 5-10 minutes and then the rpm's drop down some from like 2200-2300 to 1800-1900 im assuming my car isn't shifting into O/D right away. Or is does this have to do with the torque converter isnt warmed up enough yet and isnt allowing the car to drop down in rpm's yet but actually is in 0/D

thanks for your time

Have you checked the transmission fluid level. What exactly was done at 103K? Did they drop the pan and replace the filter and fluid or just "flush" the transmission. If they did just a "flush" have the proper service done which consists of replacing the filter and never flush the transmission.

I had the the filter and fluid exchanged/changed. It was never flushed. As far as I know the fluid is at the the correct level. I have had meineke check it as thats where I have my oil changed.

I am wondering if the torque converter is starting to go bad? when the guy replaced my tranny fluid he said it still looked clean. Im the second owner of this car. If it is the torque converter causing this problem im questioning having it replaced before it would wreck something else.

I have also had the BCM replaced, and sometimes my abs light turns on and my traction control light turns on for no reason. Im worried this car is going to start falling a part soon and I am questioning getting rid of it before it does.

The abs and traction control coming on are usually caused by a bad wheel sensor. You need a shop with the correct diagnostic tool to determine which sensor. The transmission is also capable of throwing codes and again a special tool is needed to read them. You could also have a bad connector causing the convertor issue. The mileage on your car is not that high and you seem to have minor issues at this point which maybe easily corrected.

Sorry for going off topic here. But is it possible to hear the wheel sensor? like if its lose or rattling? I have heard something in the right from of my car on and off at times and I have looked and it doesnt seem to be a strut, shock, or wheel bearing. I am bring my car in this Wednesday to have it looked at.

Hopefully its a sensor that isnt going to cost me a ton on money. I like the car and I haven't really had any problems. but if it starts nickle and dimeing me to death its time to sell it off.

anything is possible but sensors usually dont rattle

It may just take longer for it to warm up in the colder temperatures. If is shifts normally when it warms up, probably a normal thing.

I had the tranny fluid and everything looked over this last Wednesday and it checked out. They also stated that it is from the car still being cold. I also had the side looked at that I hear the noise coming from and they couldn't figure out what it could be. Its kind of getting annoying.

Did they go for a drive with you to hear the noise?

What happens is that the transmission really is shifting in O/D but if the engine isn't up to it's normal operating temperature, the torque converter won't lock up. When the engine is fully warmed up, the T/C will lock up therefore rpms will go down. That is quite normal and it will even work if you decide to shift into third gear (3) for frequent city driving under 50-55 mph but make sure to shift back in O/D if driving over 55 mph.
