01 Grand am Low Coolant light on?

Hello there!

So, I was just wondering, what does it mean exactly when I'm low coolant light is on? It just came on today after I was driving home from the grocery store. I don't know if it means I just need to add antifreeze or if I need to actually go into the garage and get it fixed.

I plan on getting some antifreeze tonight and changing it after work. If this doesn't fix the problem I will bring it in, I just wanted to know what it meant before i spent another large chunk of change on it. Yesterday I had the alternator changed & a fuel flush or something and that cost me $600 so, any tips?

well do you have a 4 or 6 cylinder?

so first i would get some 50/50 dexcool not the mix with anything crap..and top the coolant tank off..it looks like this http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1059034...not if everything is good the light should go away..but if it did'nt the it could be 2 thing .first the sensor on the tank could have went bad and should be replaced..second the floater in the tank is stuck..you could pull the tank out and throw some dawn soap let it soad for a hour or 2 rinse out very well..or just replace it

side not: do not over fill it..just up to the full line..it's on the side of the tank..and never open the cap on the tank when it is hot
