Hello. I recently replaced the wheel speed sensor harness in my grand am because I had an "ABS" and "TRAC-OFF" light on my dash and was advised by a mechanic that it was likely the wheel speed sensor harness. When I replaced it I noticed one of the wires on the old harness had been completely broken. I assumed this meant that the harness was almost definitely the problem. I was also sure to properly solder the wires and not use butt connectors. When I started the car up after replacing the harness both lights were gone. After driving it a couple times I realized that as soon as I turn the wheel both lights come back on, and stay on until I shut off the car, and only reappear once I turn the car back on and turn the wheel again. I suspected I could've just not left enough slack in the harness for the wheel to turn but after jacking it up, just now, and turning the wheel full lock both ways there still seems to be a perfectly adequate amount of slack. Sadly I do not remember if the light turned on immediately on startup, or if it was only after the wheel was turned that they came on, since I only recently got the car and it had been my sister that had been driving it for the past year or so. I noticed that for most other people the light seems to only turn on when the wheel is turned and shut off as soon as they straighten out. I am quite confused and your help would be appreciated.
