03 Montana back up assist red led blinking

Hello all newbie here just bought a used 2003 montana to replace my 2000 montana , anyhow have a few questions of some of the stuff that is not working and would like the forum's help : This montana has back up assist and when I put it in reverse the red led back by the hatch lights up red and flashes and never changes ,I have checked and cleaned the sensors but still flashes red ? Is there something I can check or take some voltage measurements at the sensors ? Apparently someone backed into something and put a dent in the hatch(too bad the van is beautiful) and the one sensor is pushed in about an 1/8 inch,do you think that has anything to do with it ? Thanks in advance

How many leds flash? My 2004 has 3 and the closer I get to an object the more light up... not sure its the same with a 2003... alternately the sensor that is "pushed in" is probably broken and sending a constant alert to the system

Just the red led blinks ,yea I wish those sensors weren't so expensive I hate to just swap it out with out knowing it was bad maybe I will try the bone yard for a used one thanks .
