Morning:

The passenger side power window failed in the open position the other day.

Neither the driver side switch or the passenger side switch would power the window up. The passenger side switch will move the window down but not up, the driver side switch (for the passenger side) won't work in either direction.

I pulled the power window switch from our sunfire and tried it on the driver side but it also wouldn't work (up or down). I put the Montana switch in the sunfire and it works fine in the sunfire (this rules out the driver side switch).

I pulled the door off on the driver side and plugged the passenger side PW motor into the driver side PW plug and the motor powers up and down (this rules out the passenger side PW motor).

I'm going to see if I can get a passenger side PW switch; however, it's puzzling that the driver side switch for the passenger window stopped working altogether.

Is there a PW relay somewhere that might be the culprit?

FYI - for those readers with a stuck window:

Pull the door panel off, remove the power window motor, manually push the window up then replace the motor to hold it.

Anyone have any thoughts on this one?

Cheers

Update

Thanks for your thoughts, found the attached partial schematic on the web, maybe someone else will find it useful.

Power and both grounds going to the switch are good, no continuity between the hot pin and either of the ground pins on the switch itself.

I'll replace the switch and see what happens.

Then I'll start looking for a ground out condition I suppose.

Thanks for the owners manual, don't suppose you know where to get a service manual?

Cheers

online no, factory manual is expensive, Helms publishing, otherwise Hanes or Chilton at a book store or library or amazon.
