1 of the cluster bulbs burned out in my 2005 Sunfire so I took the cluster to the local Chevy dealer thinking I could buy 2 bulbs & replace both of them since I had the cluster out. Well, I was told they don't carry the bulbs & they just replace the whole cluster instead! Can you believe that? For a couple of bucks in bulbs??
There's gotta be a better answer. How do I get the bulbs out? I can't pull apart the circuit board from the front because of the pointers for the speedometer, fuel, temp, all prevent the pulling apart. Please tell me the bulbs are replaceable & aren't soldered in?
Thanks

Thanks. Found out the bulbs are indeed soldered in & a hassle to remove the needle pointers if you don't know what you're doing & don't have a special tool to remove the needle pointers. Found a rebuilt cluster on eBay for $125 but since all my gauges still work, a problem others have had but not me, since it's only the bulbs burned out, I'll live with a dimmer cluster until or if I have other cluster problems in the future, then I'll pay the $125. What were some of these GM engineers thinking when they made dash light bulbs impossible to change for the average Joe?
