Looking for help, wifes van stalls out after driving for 10 minuets. Last fall replaced crankshaft sensor had GM relearn the computer and all is well. Now once again acting the same way,Gm service manager said try a GM sensor and not a aftermarket this time.Did that, relearned again and alls good. Now heres the thing Ive found, It only does it when its semi hot out, hence it ran good all winter until 3 weeks ago. Temps hit 8o's then it acts up. We wait for 5 min. and it starts right up and goes. I'm stumped, and it doesn't throw a code. Anybody have a clue because I'd hate to start throwing $$ at it changing relays and coil packs. Any suggestions would be awesome. 05 sv6 w/ 3.5 176,000miles

Coil packs are fine, when it acts up it acts like its not getting any fuel. Will turn over just wont start. One person thinks a relay or the obc is getting to hot?Does that sound possible?

Maybe difficult to do but test fuel pressure when it wont start. What is "obc"?

new one on me usually ECM or PCM. The standard port configurations are OBDI or OBDII. Your best bet is to take it to a shop that has a diagnostic scanner and can actually connect to the car when it stalls otherwise you are just guessing.

Just a update.Mechanic looked at it and got it to stall.Threw a crankshaft position sensor code. Had replaced recently so we're thinking its not that.Checked all wires all the way to the ecm and looked fine. I replaced the sensor plug with a gm pigtail now. Mechanic was thinking plug crimp may be swelling under heat and connection becoming loose. For $25 I'll try that and then the ecm if it doesnt fix it. Crossing fingers!

Thanks for the update and hope you got it fixed

Well that wasnt it.Died again yesterday. Threw a 336 code again. Does changing the ecm require a trip to the dealer to "relearn" anything or is a change it out and go part? Gettin fustrated now

A new ECM has to be programmed to your VIN.
Potential causes of a P0336 code include:
•Bad crank sensor
•Broken reluctor ring (missing teeth, debris lodged in ring)
•Reluctor ring dislodged/stripped from it's stationary location
•Wiring harness chafing causing short
•Wiring open in CKP circuit

Well after getting a used pcm that couldn't be reprogrammed for my vin I spent $275 for a new gm one. Add $185.00 for reprogramming and its been a week so far with no stalling. Tried all the easy ways to fix it first but in the end the most expensive always prevails... I just hope this helps somebody else down the line but wish for you its just the $30 crankshaft sensor.
