06 Starting Issues

My girlfriends daughter just got a new to her Torrent. It has 200,xxx KM on it. It had a major oil leak from the filter housing which is now fixed. But it still has an issue with starting. When she goes to start it, the engine starts, but it seems like it just stalls right away, RPM's go to zero, then, back up to idle speed.

I am guessing that it is a dirty MAF sensor and/or a dirty throttle body.

Has anyone encountered this? If it is a dirty throttle body, should I clean it on the vehicle or take it off and clean it on my bench?

I am not new to mechanics, but newish to all the electronics. I have the code reader, and there are zero codes.

I would look at the throttle body and the IAC for carbon deposits. You should be able to clean the throttle body without removing it. In addition check for cracked or disconnected vacuum lines.
