Good day I am new to this forum thing but I'm hoping someone can help I have a 2007 torrent with 240k km on it and am experiencing erratic tach only in the mornings almost like moisture is getting into a sensor or harness. the tach will jump a few times by maybe 200 rpm then drop to zero, then the transmission seems to stay in a gear feels like 4th. if I pull over shut the car off wait about 10 min start it back up it will run fine the rest of the day. spedo works fine. not sure if I should be chasing the speed sensor in the tranny or the crank sensor. car runs perfect after I get through the morning hick ups.

I'm at a loss with this issue. also there are no obd2 codes being thrown

not much to go on. Try removing the coils and cleaning all the connections including the ground.

I will put it up on the hoist this weekend this morning I let the car warm up for 20 min and it ran fine. I'm thinking you may be right that there is a ground issue as it seems to happen when there is a heavy due in the mornings then once the temp outside goes up it runs fine the rest of the day. I will let you know what I find out. thanks for the suggestion

Figured out what the problem was. The Crank sensor had rust build up behind it between the sensor and the engine block. took the sensor out cleaned up the block with a wire wheel, put the sensor back in and have not had a problem with it since September. just wanted to let you know the solution sorry for the late response.
