08 Torrent AWD wheels (alloy) problem...

that doesnt look like the aluminum is breaking down, it looks like some sort of coating coming off, or is that a hole through the wheel in picture number 2? Take one of the wheels to a local tire/wheel shop and let them look at it. If these wheels are just sitting on a shelf what is on the vehicle?
 
As I said (but was a little unclear), they are the summer wheels on the Torrent, she got steel wheels for winter...

It's the actual tire shop that saw the problem, when they installed the wheels on the car. They said to ask our local GM if there was something to do (like a warranty or something) because the aluminium is turning to powder/dust" under the spots... They said also that the wheels could crack/break in some spots...

As for pic #2, I just lifted the layer peeling, to show the aluminium underneath

I'll go with the car to the dealer tomorrow and ask them what's to be done.. I've never ever seen alloy wheels do that...
 
I have found no technical bulletins or recalls for your vehicle. Anything out of the ordinary about the garage, extremely humid, any chemicals stored? Are you near a large body of salt water? This link, somewhat dated, explains GM's wheel policy

The funny thing is that my OEM Mazda Protegé wheels (2002) and my dad's Pontiac Vibe (2010) wheels are stored in the same garage during winter and shows no sign of peeling or corrosion...

The exterior of the wheels are clean, no sign of corrosion... it's really just the interior of the wheels...

Will see what the dealer have to say tomorrow...
