I've been looking for a rebuilt or junkyard engine for my 1984 J2000 Sunbird convertible with 1.8L non turbo manual transmission. The question is, will any long block 'o' engine fit, or are the autos and manuals different? Or, can I put any engine in with my old transmission. Also, there seems to be a difference in 2.0L blocks with or without mounting holes (fuel pump, etc.) What modifications will be necessary? I don't care if a 1.8 or 2.0 but just need something that matches tranny.
Thanks

Try www.car-part.com, there is a couple of used good A+ 1.8 OHC motors for sale.($ 700 - $200)

I would believe any 88-91 2.0 OHC motors would fit ( TBI ones with a distributor) as long you get the correct rear bolt pattern block. May need to upgrade to the 2.0's ECM, though.

92-94 2.0's use MPFI and a crank sensor so it uses a different ignition and fuel pressure.
