1939 Pontiac Six I6 engine mods

I don't have any money to afford a crate from Butler performance but I have a Pontiac Six 1939 sedan with the oem I6 Pontiac engine & I think it's the 3.1L or 3.3L but not sure. Anyways, I wanted at least achive higher power and was wondering what companies make performance engine parts. I know that Butler only sells Pontiac V8 parts but not inline 6 parts, so that's off the list. So really what parts could I use/companies that I could go to get parts.

A friend of mine looked long and hard for vintage speed parts for his 1937 I-6 Pontiac, he never did find a high compression head (they did build a few aftermarket heads in the 1940's) but found a I-8 edlebrock head that he cut down for use on the I-6. He also found a duel 1bbl intake manifold. And had his camshaft reground for higher lift.

I am afraid there are no companies that currently make any high performance parts for the flat head Pontiac 6 or 8 cylinder engines, vintage used is all that I am aware of. Hemmings and Jalopy Journal are other parts sources
