If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... I own a 1968 Pontiac Tempest.

To my knowledge no changes to badges or other modifications etc have ever been made to the car by myself, my father or his uncle (the only three owners ever).

The badges on the car say Tempest Custom S ....

Therein lies the issue ...

I have a friend that says there was never a 1968 Pontiac Custom S .. that the custom S was only made in the 1969 model year (based solely on Wiki .. because we all know how flawless Wiki is  ).

Every other aspect of the car matches .. nose, windows, rear bumper etc etc.

I have no idea how a Custom S badge could possibly have 'magically' found it's way onto this car.

Can you please help me solve this little mystery?

Thank you
Scott

from what I can tell the "Custom" was in 1968 and the "Custom S" was in 1969. What are the 2nd and 3rd digits of the serial number? Depending on how much this bothers you, there is a service, www.phs-online.com, that will send you a complete package including window sticker for your car for a fee.
