1968 Pontiac Le mans vin search

My wife bought me this car yesterday for my birthday.Lots of work is needed but I am trying to find a history on this vehicle by doing a VIN search and every site I try tells me its an invalid VIN. Ive matched the VIN on the title to the VIN on the dash of the car and they are the same. Can anyone give me some advice on this?

The sites that give you info by VIN do not go back to 1968. If you want info you have to go to www.phs-online.com and order their package which will tell you where the car was sold and what options it had, etc.
