Trying to get this beast back on the road dropped the tank to find an unobtanium 6 bolt fuel sender/pickup in the tank. Tank looks brand new inside and I have a feeling the reason the gas gauge reads full is a bad gauge since I'm getting voltage off the the sender lead, but if I move the the sender/pickup around I don't hear any thing moving inside. Ideas?? IMG_2153[1].jpgIMG_2154[1].jpg

a poor ground connection, without ground the gauge will read full

Thanks for the reply, do you mean the sender ground of a ground on the gauge itself? So, theoretically if I ground the lead that comes from gauge to sender the gauge should read empty?

the sender ground will give you a full reading on the gauge if the sender ground is not connected or has a poor connection

70 Cat Fuel Sender

My 70 Catalina Fuel Pickup is not working either. My Mechanic believes it must be replaced but we can't find a replacement. Do you or anyone else have any leads. OMG doesn't carry '65 thru '70 fuel pickups
