So it's been a while - I do not see a straight forward way to change or check my tail light bulbs - any help?

There are no screws on the outside?
If not it has to be through the trunk.

So I went to the trunk. Nothing obvious - all steel but there are two rubber boots on each side. Removal of the boot gives access to a nut on a stud. The nut is like 9/16 or 5/8 - seems pretty hefty for a tail light. I will try this today to see if it holds the tail light. No screws I can see on the outside.
Thanks

On the outside lens remove the phillips screws , pull the whole light housing out the lens will come off , I would suggest pull the sockets and sand the ground contacts while you are at it.

I found the screws - they are on the underside of the top part of the lens (out of sight for a tall person). Now how to break them loose. Thanks for the advise, its knowing it can be done that pushes you forward.

You need a good phillips not a dollar store driver , push in hard turn, if they strip the head will drill out easy pull the lens out and use vise grips to remove screws.
