140 mph Speedometer and odometer are inop. I disconnected the line from the transmission and spun it with a drill, and it works. What piece would go in the transmission? I have heard it is some nylon piece or something that is designd to wear out. Also, about 2 inches forward, there appears to be an electrical wire (possibly just a ground) that has bee cut or something. It's just a wire thats hanging there. If it was a ground, I don't see a bolt head or anything like that that it could ground out to.

the speedometer driven gear is made of nylon and is easy to remove and replace. Just one bolt holds the adaptor to the side of the trani case. You didnt mention automatic or manual transmission. The wire could be the for the reverse switch if you have a manual.

Speedometer cable

It is an automatic, shifter on the column. No cruise control.

then you'll have to trace the wire back to it's source
