1978 Trans Am

I just purchased a 78 TA with the 400 engine. Power steering does not work when I apply the brakes or backing up. Anybody know what causes this? I was told the brake booster may have to be adjusted.

Does this vehicle have a power steering pump and reservoir. If so, have you checked the fluid level. It's unclear to me why you would think there is a connection between the power steering and the brake booster.
