Hi All,
I normally spend time on Model A Ford topics, I own three, but I'm here to see if anyone can give me a ballpark comment on the value of a 1981 Fiero owned by family in Indiana, I live in NYS. I've attempted to post one decent photo that I have. The car is not presently running, it needs new tires, the paint is said to be scratched, and it was running up to last year. I wish I had photos of the engine compartment and interior, but I don't have any. Any ballpark, hi-lo estimates of value? Family has one estimate of $1,200, to me that seems awfully low.
If the photo didn't upload I'll try again.
Many thanks,
Jim in Central NYS

They didn't start making Fiero's until 1984 so...

My 89 year old aunt refers to this car as a 1981, sorry, as I said I'm a Model A guy. I will correct the year, I wish I could get that photo up. Thanks, Jim

Thanks. The Fiero is an '86 and I have the VIN #. I'll try to upload a photo, again.
Jim
PS(Ahh, success with the photo! The car was appraised at $2,800 a year or so ago, now the same appraisal person is saying that outdoor storage has reduced the value to $1,200 citing scratches, dry rot tires, empty radiator, and not running condition. Sheet metal (these cars fiberglass?) shows no rust and there's no body damage. Can't imagine this is appraised very nearly at junk level.)

that price is low retail based on NADA especially since it's not running.

Thanks, I visited NADA and I agree. Jim

from the picture, that paint seems very clean. compared to most others ive seen. i paid 1400$ for my 86 se 2m6. and it has very bad fading of clearcoat. however mine ran, had good tires, and fairly low miles. however i was not aware of the problematic oil pump that fried the motor. so now i have a torn down se waiting for a 3.4 swap. but 1200$ for a what seems like a well kept car is a fair price even with the problems. if it ran and had good tires i would ballpark it around 1500-1800$ depending on the shape of the interior and engine bay.

note: i am not an apraiser but i have baught cars and restored and resold a fair share of vehicles.
