Question....? I have a 1985 Firebird that has been sitting for a while. Do you think it needs new exhaust? I think it does.... could anyone give me any reccomendations on good brands?

I really only want to spend from $300-500

Also, would this make my car sound better too?

It only has a V6 so I dont expect it to sound like a V8, but still.

Just make sure you get glass packs.
I took mine in and asked for glass packs and the guy gave me thrush :( (in Canada).
Should be able to get some deal on a muffler system.
Do alot of priceing for the best deal.
I have 2 83 firebirds.

dont waste your money on an exhaust if its not leaking. if it is just have a reputable muffler shop do the repair.not to be hurtful and to be completely honest putting a performance sounding exhaust on a car that has a V6 is gay. it will never sound like a V8 in any kind of way, it will sound like crap. there will be no performance gain because the gain you will recieve at a high rpm will be negated by the loss of low rpm range torque that is used for daily driving in stop and go traffic. plus there isn't any known performance parts for 85 firebirds with V6.

SLP makes a pretty good exhaust system. They make alot of products for GM vehicles equipped with V6 engines. I would try that or a Dynomax exhaust. Flowmaster may also make an exhaust system compatible with your engine.

I think if done correctly, exhaust systems on V6 powered vehicles sound pretty good.

EDIT

Apparently the guy saying that exhaust systems on a V6 are a waste has never heard a Regal T-Type or Grand National with an aftermarket exhaust. Any lessening of restrictions (to a point) on an exhaust system will yield gains.
