1986 Fiero Headlight Motors

I'm having trouble finding new replacement headlight motors for my 86 Fiero GT. Now, I have read on several other sites that the 82 - 86 Firebird headlight motors are the same as the 84 - 86 Fiero motors. The only difference is that the motors are opposite. example, LH motor on Fiero is same as RH motor on Firebird. I was wondering if this is true? If it is, are there any modifications to be made for it to function properly? Thanks.

All Fiero headlight motors are the same between all models (coupe,Indy,SE,GT,Formula,etc.). The 84-86 have one style and 87/88 have another style. Yes the exact same headlight motor is used in the Firebird/Trans Am's. As noted they use them on opposite sides. So if you need a passenger side motor for your Fiero you can use a driver side from a Firebird.
This is true for all years. If you have an 88 Fiero you can use an 87 or newer Firebird motor.

You know it would be cheaper and better to rebuild them.
Rodney Dickman sells a rebuild kit that includes better bushings and metal gears.
