I'm replacing the spark plugs on my 86' Pontaic Fiero. The three facing the rear of the car were easily accessible & popped right out. The three facing the cab are barely accesible, but seem to have a seat or gasket around them. I'm not even able to get my 3/8 socket wrench on deep enough to lock onto the plug itself. Is this normal? Is there a removal solution witout damage?

Thanks in adavance

they make special wrenches for thing like that and autozane will even rent them out run up there and explain that to them

1. Is this normal on that particular car - Yes
2. Is there a removal solution 'witout' damage - Yes

some "mid" engines require engine removal ,lol

I had the same problem trying to remove my rear plugs, You might want to try after you pull the boot off, Take a small flat screw driver & A Small mechanics mirror, And remove the build up & road grime around the base of the spark plug, where it meets the engine head. You can remove the dogbone mount on the right side of the engine, (facing the rear of the vehicle) There is a tool that you can buy at any autoparts store, or tool truck, That allows you to attach to the existing mount, When you screw it closed, It pulls the motor forward just enough to get at the spark plugs a little easier. enabling you to have plenty of room to remove/replace them.
