1987 firebird 5.0 getting rid of smog pump

so i just bought this 1987 pontiac firebird formula 5.0 and want to clean up the engine compartment. The smog pump doesnt work and wanted to know if i can just remove it and all the lines that have to do with it. Any suggestions

If your state doesnt require it for smog tests, yes. You probably have to plug the lines in the exhaust manifolds also.

i live in new hampshire and they dont require it for cars older than 15 years.
