firebird??? i was driving down the street a little bit ago doing about 10mph, when i accidentally bump my gear shifter into reverse! my car stalled then didn't start for about 30 sec. how bad is this for my car? did i break anything? i also noticed about a week ago that my tranny fluid was really dirty, kind of like a black color... i know it's suppose to be like a clear red color, but it's not! what could this be? should i get it change? how much will it cost? any info. would be great. PLEASE i love my car and i don't want to make that mistake again...
note: it's a 1987 pontiac firebird v6 2.8l, automatic, oil changed regularly, always cloth washed when it's nice out, & 130,000 miles...

its not good but it shouldnt have done anything to it but grind the gears but change the fluid and filter and look for metal fragments just to be safe

Nah, if your car drives and shifts fine you be alright, and yea you got to do a tranny flush, its should cost u between 40-75$ depends what shop you take it to. Take it to Brakes Plus if you live in a large size city its shouldn't run you more then 65$

You really need to be carefull if the fluid is discolored, flushing it could kill it off completely..
if the car has high miles you may be better off just pricing a replacement for it
