1988 Fiero 2.5 5 Speed 4.9L swap??

Hello,

I have a 1988 Pontiac Fiero with 2.5L 4 cylinder engine and 5 Speed transmission. I have read online that the early 90s 4.9L Cadillac engine can bolt on to the stock transmission. I wanted to get some insight on this swap since I am interested in doing it myself.
Will my stock 5 speed transmission work with the 4.9L V8? What are the pros and cons?
