whitch one would win in a 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile drag race?

The 5.0 Mustang would beat the 5.0 Firebird in drag race if both are stock. A Firebird with a 5.7 would barely beat the Mustang unless the Mustang is a 5speed car than it would win. I know because I have seen it with my own eyes.

Unfortunately your question cannot be answered correctly/incorrectly. What kind of condition are we talking about, both, the cars and the weather, track, altitude? Is this the theoretical nuetral condition and perfect order or is this a real world situation? Have the motors been rebuilt, original, built up? All of these things will cause variables to play key factors on the outcomes. Like if the left side of the track has been used more so that there is more rubber left behind, if this track is dry then that lane will have a better launch capability, however, if it is wet then that lane is more likely to spin tires and possibly cause you to lose the race. I know that between these two paper shows the mustang as the victor, but I also know that the firebird has one very strategically key factor to play. It has the long body aerodynamics which will cut through th air quicker allowing for a better break in the wind and allowing a quicker launch and better acceleration. Unfortunately playing the what if game is exactly that what if? Their is only speculation, no real answers.

With all else being equal the 305 is a terrable engine compared to the 5.0 (302) ford engine, the 302 is a 4"bore x 3" stroke which makes it a better power producing engine over the 305 Chevrolet engine in the Firebird with a 3.75" bore and a 3.48" stroke the chevrolet engine has a distinct disadvantage in the fact it has a worse bore to stroke ratio and shrouded valves (due to the small bore) that restrict power ...that and the 302 has a better injection system and stock exhaust and it will beat the 305 powered firebird 99 percent of the time ...
the times for a stock 305 powered (TPI) barely makes it into the 15 sec range while a comparable 5.0 mustang will run a mid 14 sec 1/4 mi ..
with the mustang leading all the way ...

it depends on driving techniques but i vote for mustang
I've beaten 5.0 Mustangs 2 out of 3 times I've raced 'em...two different cars...in two different towns...on two different days...Guess I musta been lucky
Side note: I did get my ass handed to me by a kid in a pimped '88 stang that had $3,000 pumped into the motor by his daddy!

I agree with everyone else this is a difficult question to answer unless like the other guys they have first hand experience.
It all depends on what is put into the engine. If your talking just stock engines then I would have to say the mustang.
Although as a side note The new Stingray C7 would beat both of them lol So GM wins again. lol

Why even ask a question like that it really depends, if you're not planning on spending 10k on a stock car don't worry about if....
